Botox, dermal fillers and chemical peels

Busy lifestyles and natural aging processes can cause the skin to lose its natural elasticity, and lines and wrinkles appear. Wrinkle reduction treatments such as Botox reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and dermal fillers are used to ‘plump-up’ areas where the skin has naturally creased. Where blemishes have occurred, chemical peels can be used to remove the outermost layers of skin which allows the fresh layers of newer skin to be seen.
Wrinkle reduction treatments, such as Botox and dermal fillers are used within the practice, and can result in a more youthful appearance and are a great alternative to having surgery. Chemical peels can be undertaken within the practice, providing that a pre-treatment and post-treatment regime are undertaken away from the practice.
Botox injections block the impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles, which allows the wrinkles to relax with the surrounding muscles, whilst the non-treated areas continue to function as normal. This reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The treatment takes 10-15 minutes, and the results usually last around 2-6 months, and repeat injections can be used to maintain the wrinkle reduction in treated areas.
The dermal filler injections ‘plump-up’ the injected area, giving it more body. This means that any lines and furrows treated appear smoother, and where lips are treated, they become fuller and more sensuous. The treatment usually takes 30 minutes using a local anaesthetic, and the results usually last around 6-18 months, and repeat injections can be used to maintain the 'plumping-up' in the treated areas.
Depending on the type of skin blemish or pigmentation problem, different types of chemical peeling can be used. Superficial peeling is used to give the face a rejuvenated look by removing the outermost layers of skin which can have become dull. The newer skin layers revealed during the peeling process appear to 'glow' giving a younger, healthier look.
For certain types of blemish, a deeper peeling is needed. This involves more pre-treatment preparation away form the practice, and more post-treatment lotions after the peeling solution has been applied. It is advisable that you do not plan any meetings or functions for a few days after the treatment, as your skin will be under active treatment, and no make-up can be applied during this time.
Your clinician will discuss with you the type of treatment recommended for you, and any pre and post-treatment regime you would be required to follow to ensure the success of the peeling process.
For all treatments, a written treatment plan will be given to you with costs which are valid for 6 months.
