Amalgam
Amalgam fillings are the silver fillings which contain mercury, and are traditionally used in dentistry.
Bonding
A method of 'gluing' the inlay/veneer/filling to the tooth to give a strong restoration to the tooth.
Consultation
The initial appointment at the practice.
Cosmetic Dentistry
The area of dentistry looking at the appearance of the teeth and gums in relation to the lips.
Dental facelifts
The method of using dental restorations to give more support to the lips, which in turn can reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles in the mouth area.
Dental Hygienist
A member of the dental team who cares for the health of your teeth and gums. The hygienist provides scaling and polishing of the teeth, and oral hygiene advice.
Dental implants
Dental Implants are titanium 'screws' placed in the jaw as a long-term solution for missing teeth.
'No-Preparation' veneers
The system of fitting porcelain laminate veneers without the need to prepare (remove any of) the underlying tooth. This system is not suitable in every case.
Oral hygiene
The knowledge needed to keep your teeth and gums in a healthy condition.
ORTHODONTICS
The method of moving the teeth within the arch using either fixed braces or removable mouthguard.
Porcelain crowns
Sometimes known as caps. A crown is bonded over the whole tooth to provide a secure, tooth coloured restoration.
Porcelain inlays
Porcelain inlays are used to provide a secure restoration when the hole in the tooth is too large for a filling, and not large enough for a crown.
Porcelain Laminate Veneer/porcelain veneer
A veneers Is best described as a 'false-fingernail' for a tooth. It is a thin piece of porcelain which is securely bonded to the front surface of the tooth to give a straight, white, natural appearance.
Root canal therapy
Root canal therapy is the method of removing the nerve within the root of the tooth.

The use of dental restorations to provide a transformation in the appearance of a person's smile.

Tooth Whitening
The method of whitening the teeth which can be carried out at home or within the surgery.
White fillings
These are amalgam-free/mercury-free fillings. They provide a strong restoration, which can be colour-matched to the surrounding tooth, providing an almost invisible filling.

These treatments reduce the visual effects of lines and wrinkles.
